Heidi is from Farmville, Wisconsin and completed her BSc in Biology from the University of Wisconsin. After a move to Tucson (and burnout from the customer service industry), Heidi found academic research by way of Dr. Jason Karnes' Pharmacogenomics lab where she completed a masters degree in Applied Biosciences.  Now a Ph.D. candidate in the same lab, Heidi's research aims to improve drug response prediction using genomic and clinical information. With a background in clinical and translational sciences, Heidi's goal at the Data Science Institute is to facilitate conversations around open science among health science researchers.
