Applied Data Science Speak & Greet speaker series - Enrique Noriega

Accelerating Research Through Large Scale, Interpretable Machine Reading

When

3 to 4:30 p.m., Sept. 21, 2022

Join us at the Applied Data Science Speak & Greet speaker series hosted by the University of Arizona Data Science and hear from Enrique Noriega with the UA Computer Science Department. His research focuses on applying machine reading methods to large collections of documents to help scientists search and discover novel information relevant to their own research.

After the presentation, stay to chat with Enrique Noriega and Nirav Merchant, Director of the Data Science Institute.

In this presentation, Enrique will talk about how through collaborative research with researchers in the life sciences and information sciences, Natural Language Processing has been used to extract information at large-scale, integrated to discover potentially novel biological pathways and how we give fellow scientists the tools necessary to leverage information extraction without having to become an expert in Natural Language Processing or machine learning.
