Join the Data Science Institute to hear Jenn Schilling, the second speaker in its Industry Careers in Data Science Speaker Series for Fall 2022. Speakers in the series will highlight data science skills and backgrounds needed to be successful and how to apply for jobs, pursue data science careers, or establish new industry relationships. This series will start conversations between the attendees and speakers to foster local workforce development with UA graduates and students.
Jenn Schilling is a Senior Research Analyst at the University of Arizona and founder of Schilling Data Studio. Jenn also serves as a Data Science Mentor with RStudio and an adjunct faculty member at the College for Creative Studies where she's taught graduate courses on data visualization and R.
Topic: Playing with Numbers
Jenn Schilling has always loved math - there's documented proof going back to first grade. Learn how a love of math turned into a data science career. Jenn will share her experience applying data science in higher education and other industries as well as the lessons she's learned along her career journey. Jenn will also discuss some of her favorite data visualizations and her thoughts about effective data viz design.
The event will also host an interactive session that explores how data is visualized in different disciplines.
Pizza will be provided.
