Demystifying APIs for Researchers

The CCT Data Science Team at the University of Arizona is offering monthly workshops on topics that focus on ways to accelerate and improve the research.
   
You may have heard of APIs, but they are mostly used by and described for programmers.
   
This workshop will demystify APIs for researchers, skipping the theoretical foundations to explain what they can do for you. Specifically, we will be talking about ‘RESTful web APIs’ that are typically used to share scientific data because they can help you access a wide range of data sources and automate your analysis pipelines.

The workshop will primarily focus on finding and accessing data using APIs, but will also briefly cover how and why you might want to create your own.
