Learning through Open Science Contributions

Want to learn to code through hands-on tasks? Want to contribute to open source projects?

This workshop is a two-hour guide to making open source contributions, for first-timers and for veterans.
Learn to why you might contribute to open science, what it means to contribute, how to orient yourself to a new project on GitHub and finally, how to find a project to work on and submit a contribution to that project.

This workshop will feature 1) a 30min lecture on open source contributions and 2) a 30min lab on collaborating on GitHub followed by 3) a 60min “supervised swim” where you can test what you’ve learned and ask additional questions in an unstructured format.
